The Municipal Association of Bangladesh (MAB) works with local governments and international organizations to deliver the best services. Bangladesh adopts administrative decentralization in order to achieve good governance. Municipalities, being at an important level of local government institutions, have impacts on the effectiveness of administrative decentralization. Roles and functions of municipalities are significant in making the benefits of urbanization available to its citizens. Therefore, it is vital to strengthen and empower municipalities. In recent years, the MAB has carried out a number of activities as a united platform of municipalities. It has detected the constraints of municipalities through consultative process and made recommendations to the government in order to resolve them. Besides, the MAB has taken some initiatives to do extremely well in the achievements of municipal representatives.
