Kirtipur

Kirtipur is a city in southeast of Nepal and located 5 km southwest of the capital Kathmandu. It is under the jurisdiction of the Bagmati Zone and was originally built in the 11th century. The city stands at an altitude of 1,410 meters. Being a center of Newar culture, Kirtipur has been merged with surrounding villages. It has a population of 67,171. Its southern part is surrounded by Champadevi Hill. On Nepali New Year, people around Kathmandu Valley hike up to the Hill for celebration.
